The following nine lots comprise Cape of Good Hope reply post cards sent by H. van Oordt von Lauwenrecht when Consul General for the Netherlands in Cape Town during 1912. He wrote to all postmasters in Southern Africa:
"As I am collecting the postmarks of all post offices in South Africa for my private musuem, containing anything connected with the postal, telegraphic and telephonic communications in Africa you will oblige me very much by returning to me the annexed reply card. When obliterationg it please take care the impression of your date stamp is as clear as possible"
The history of this unique group of cards was first published in The Philatelist in June and July 1977

Cape Q.V. 1d. reply half cancelled with "ngara m.o.b./nyasaland" squared-circle d.s., the reverse with Port Herald M.O.B. and Blantyre squared-circle datestamps; and Cape Q.V. 1d. reply half uprated with KE 1d. cancelled with "neno m.o.b." squared-circle d.s., showing Blantyre transit d.s. alongside and, on reverse, Port Herald M.O.B. squaredcircel d.s. Note from Postmaster "First opened 1906. Not a telegraph office - Head office of West Shire Dist. Chilawa in same district was formerly a telegraph office - has now been closed owing to opening of Railway doing away with River Stmr Traffic"
