Chabdo was the last Chinese post office in Kham west of Yangtze that ceased operation. Chabdo was briefly occupied by Tibetan troops in 1912, recovered by the Chinese, then re-occupied by the Tibetans in 1917. When Chabdo was evacuated the overland route was blocked for normal mail
