The Houston Mount Everest Expedition
1933 (3 Apr.) Raj Darbhanga envelope with original letter from Eleanor Fellowes to London bearing India K.G.V 1a.3p. pair tied by a fine strike of "houston mount everest flight/purnea" in purple. The side of the envelope is endorsed, "I certify this cover was flown over Mt Everest 3.4.33" and signed by Fl.-Lt. D. McIntyre, the reverse bearing the handstamp "houston-mt.everest/flight/1933" an purple.

The letter is dated 2nd April and is written to Beatrice Whitley, "...I am sending you this letter which will be flown over the top in an envelope that will be stamped with a special cancelling stamp. Just a very few are being sent, the King will have one & the Prince of Wales & a few other people...". A fine and desirable cover. Photo

Note: The mail was carried in small bags, one on each plane. During the excitement on landing, only one bag was postmarked 3rd April, the second bag had been overlooked, this mail being stamped on the 5th
