1936 (Apr.) envelope to H.J.H. Irish bearing a fine strike of the type G Expedition handstamp marked "Base Camp" and manuscript "AIR MAIL" crossed through in red ink, with G.B. K.E.VIII 1½d. tied by Portsmouth & Southsea c.d.s. (29.1), other manuscript notations including "121" which is the recovered cover number; the reverse with the large oval of the Political Officer, Sikkim, mostly covered by the label "Suffered Detention in Gangtok post office owing to the Postmaster's failure to affix postage stamps and to forward them in time. The post-master has been sent to jail for his offence" and manuscript in red ink, "Rather late now but the envelope may interest". Written in the hand of Dr. Noel Humphries. Clean and fine. Photo
