1899 two incoming envelopes registered to Sven Hedin in Kashgar bearing 60ö. frankings tied by Stockholm c.d.s. with red and black registration label, the reverse bearing Osh Ferghana/Post Telegr Office c.d.s. in bluish, one with additional Moscow transit. Sent by his father, they are addressed, via Osh, to the Russian Consul-General Perrovsky in Kashgar for transmission to Sven Hedin. Manuscript numbers "No.7" and "No. 22" in red ink; one with slight water staining. Also a group of Sweden stationery envelopes to his father Ludwig (2) and sisters Anna, Gerda and Emma. Photo
The Russian postal service did not extend to Kashgar at that time, the Russian Consul-General in Kashgar rendered every possible assistance to Sven Hedin by enlisting Cossack horsemen to carry mail and supplies for Sven Hedin because of his good relationship with the Russian Czar
