Edward the Confessor (1042-1066), 'Small Flan' Penny, c. 1048-1050, Lincoln, Asfrithr [Osferth], + EDPA-RD R• diademed and draped bust left, three pellets on mantle, rev. + OSFERÐ ON LIN• voided long cross, angles plain, 0.932g [14.38grns], 4h (H R Mossop, Pl. LXXII/23 same dies; BEH -; SCBI 66 [Norwegian II], 3671 same dies; North 818; BMC II; S.1175), subtly waterworn and with a darker field tone with occasional surface marks, otherwise a pleasing very fine, only two specimens documented by Freeman and substantiated by EMC/SCBI, with this being the SOLE SPECIMEN AVAILABLE TO COMMERCE, the other in Stavanger Museum
