MEV '.] , crowned harp, 1.37g, 10h, m.m. star (DF 254; S.6509), flan chipped from 4-9 o'clock on obverse, prominent old scratches on and to the right of harp, areas of weakness of strike, but the scarcest denomination of the coinage and otherwise very fine

£5,200 of the bullion used to strike IM star pieces of the coinage, including possibly this one, came from a Spanish ship captured in the Channel in Autumn 1601 (Symonds, Numismatic Chronicle 1916 115).
