The portrait punches of this Halfgroat, with the prongs on the crown cut down, were used on Dublin pennies now attributed to Edward V (S.6393A) and of Richard III (S.6410). The portrait is diagnostic of these issues, and is attributed to 1483 and production after the Suns and Roses coinage and the death of Edward IV. This coin is the first halfgroat identified with this portrait, and has full central and lateral crown prongs, so the obverse die is necessarily earlier than those of pennies seen to date. The absence of an initial mark and the incomplete tressure are not attested to the cataloguer's knowledge on the halfgroats of Edward IV, and suggest further the attribution here to Edward V.
