Ireland, Edward I (1272-1307), Contemporary Counterfeits of Pennies, 1279-1284, "Dublin" (5), EDVV R ANGL ' DNS HYB, crowned facing bust of unusual style with two pellets below in triangle, rev. CIVITAS DVBLINIE, long cross, with trio of pellets in angles, 0.99g, 4h (S.6246), the obverse W rendered with two Vs, a bold fine; another, EDW R ANGL DNS HY[ ], crude crowned facing bust with trefoil of pellets below in triangle, rev. CIVITAS DVBLINIE, long cross, with trio of pellets in angles, 1.28g, 12h (cf. S.6246), some peripheral weakness on obverse, bold good fine; another, EDW R ANGL ' DNS HYB, crowned facing bust with trefoil of pellets below in triangle, portrait of remarkable style with elaborate crown, lettering also of unusual style, rev. CIVITAS DVBLINIE, long cross, with trio of pellets in angles, 1.44g, 7h (cf. S.6246), minor spots of weakness to inscriptions but full of flan and attractively toned, an exceptional specimen of good metal and rare thus, very fine; another, "London", EDW[ ]NS HY[ ], crowned facing bust in triangle, rev. CIVI[ ]S LON[ ]O[ ], long cross, with trio of pellets in angles, 0.70g, 9h (cf. S.6246), pellets, if any, obscured by wear and circular tooling below bust of unusual style, the mule of an imitative Irish obverse with a London reverse, thus scarce, very good/near fine; lastly, "London", EDW . [ ]ANGL ' DNS IYB, crude crowned facing bust of unusual style with inverted trefoil of pellets below in triangle, rev. CIVITAS LONDON, long cross, with trio of pellets in angles, 0.91g, 8h (cf. S.6246), the mule of an imitative Irish obverse with a London reverse, thus scarce, ghosted cross on obverse, near very fine (5)
