Ireland, Henry III (1216-1272), Contemporary Imitations of Longcross Pennies (4), in the style of 1251-1254, "London, Davi", hENRI•CVS REX III, crowned facing bust, holding sceptre with pierced cinquefoil to right within triangle, rev. DAVI ON LVNDEN, ON and EN ligated, pellet on first N, voided long cross pommée with central pellet, 1.33g; another, "Canterbury, Willem", •hENRICVS [R]EX III, similar, rev. WILLEM ON CANT, similar, 1.34g, 9h, first off-centre on obverse, otherwise with attractive tone, near very fine; the second with weak patches, otherwise lustrous, a bolder very fine; others, HEIR•ICISI•|•EX III, decidedly cruder than before, with cross pommée in right field, rev. CIV IIM EIO HMM, blundered legend, voided long cross pommée with central pellet, 1.67g; lastly, CIV IIVII VII, crowned facing bust, holding short sceptre with star [?] to right within triangle, rev. inscription mostly vertical strokes, voided long cross pommée without central pellet, arms of cross through void at centre, 1.24g, the first of good metal, wiuth a light but colourful tone, a pleasingly good very fine; the second, lightly scuffed and of sub-standard weight, darker tone, a bolder fine; a most interesting academic assemblage (4)
