Hiberno-Norse (c. 1065-1100), Phase V, 'Small Flan/Pointed Helmet' Type, Penny, Dublin, stylised legend, crude bust left, rev. stylised legend, voided short cross, in imitation of Edward the Confessor, large annulets in angles, 0.57g (SCBI 32 [Ulster Museum] -; cf. SCBI 8 [British Museum] 218 [without annulets]; SCBI 22 [Copenhagen] -; S.-), struck soft to obverse peripheries, and with some ghosting to portrait, otherwise of excellent fabric, about very fine with accentuating cabinet tone in recesses, an excessively rare variety
