1942 (May) "Peacock" Overprints
Overprinted at Myaungmya - S.G. Type 1

On Official Stamps of George V
6p. bistre interpanneau block of four with margin at right, and showing overprints in interpanneau, showing Types C-D over A-B over C-D, unused with full original gum, fine. S.G. J3, £440+. Photo

Note: The 6a. value was printed from old De La Rue plates. Sheets were 256 in four panes of sixty-four. Each pane with four rows of sixteen was separated by interpanneau margins with printed pillars. The Myaungmya type was made up of a block of four types and in the height of the sheet of two stamps width there were eight blocks each showing the four sub-types. On the margins sub-types c and d are twice as rare as sub-types a and b. The printing should have resulted in the lower sheet margin having parts of sub-types c and d.
