1872 "Hidalgos"
Saltillo District 100c. Gray Lilac imperforate (#36-73), slightly cut into at right, otherwise good margins, tied by two faint h.s. to registered cover front from Saltillo to Mazatlán on April 28, 1874. Postal rules required the recipient to sign the front of registered mail as proof of receipt, after which it was sent back to the originating office and destroyed two years later, with this explaining why so few examples remain today.
