1872 "Hidalgos"
Ixtlahuaca and Toluca 12c. Blue imperforate (#46-72), margins all around, tight at right, used and on piece with probably Ixtlahuaca postmark. This appears to be an "Habilitado" (a stamp bearing a second overprint beside an earlier one). A highly uncommon example, as Ixtlahuaca was not an independent district at the time of this issue. It is likely that the stamp was originally sent from Toluca, and that the Ixtlahuaca postmaster mistakenly applied an outdated overprint. 2025 MEPSI certificate. Scott 94; unlisted by NF.
