1861 "Hidalgos" and 1856 "Hidalgos"
Various Districts Group of 19 splits, represented on nine very attractive covers and entire letters, as well ten on piece, featuring an attractive variety of cuts. All but one of the covers are from the 1856 issue, including seven bisects of the 4r. Red (Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Durango y Morelia) and one 8r. Lilac quadrisect (Morelia), as well as 1861 quadrisect of 8r. black on Brown from Zacatecas. The splits on pieces are all but one from 1856: three 4r. Red bisects and six 8r. Lilac quadrisects; the highlight being a rare combination of 4r. Red bisect and two ½r. Blue. The 1861 issue is represented on piece with a rare triangular bisect of 4r. Black on Yellow from Tabasco. Three Mepsi certificates (1976, 1978, 1979). It includes items originating from the Strauss, John Bash, Hendricks, Franz-Josef Strieker and Will Shelton collections. Scott 4a, 5d, 9a; NF $2,315,
