1936 (11 May) Waterlow & Sons hand-painted essays (2) for a 20c. design, an accepted and an unaccepted design; the first 'accepted in green and black and the second annotated 'rejected' and in black and green, both depicting zebras, and with details picked out in Chinese white, affixed to part of Waterlow ledger page, trimmed from original file page (130 x 38mm.) which had pencil notations "20 Ctvos" and 'Rough Designs to give idea of what the stamps would look like.
