1850-51 "Cottonreels"
A "Ferrary" and "Burrus" 4 Cents on Pelure Paper
4c. black on pale yellow on pelure paper, Townsend Type A (Robson Lowe Type B), initialled "W.H.L.", cut square with circular frameline cut into at top and lower side, cancelled by Demerara double-arc d.s. for July 28? 1851. Colour faded and a couple of minor imperfections due to the very fragile nature of the paper, otherwise fine and most attractive. Only sixteen recorded examples of this stamp remain in private hands, with only six of them being cut square. Brendon certificate (1978). S.G. 8I, £130,000. Photo
