essay £1, undated, serial number AA962582, dark olive-grey reverse. Circa. 1943-1945, G. Waterstons and Sons prepared a number of essays ahead of the bank's 250th anniversary. Ultimately, this note was not chosen for issue however the essay survived as an experimental design
