(g) Victoria (1837-1901), 'Shieldback' Sovereign, 1845, 'Small Close Date', first small young head left, rev. crowned 'normal' shield in wreath, edge milled, 7.96g, 6h (EGC II, 1075; Bentley 48; MCE 506; Marsh 28B; S.3852), light hairlines scratches and pinmarks to the obverse, otherwise with a most handsome near-brilliance to fields, red toning in parts, extremely fine and with much eye appeal
