A:DNO FACTVM : EST • ISTVD : ET : EST : MIRA '• pellet stops, Ship surmounted by square-topped shield and crucifix mast dividing E and Rose, twisted rigging 2/1, with bowsprit, waves lapping below, 2.61g [40.27grns], 8h, m.m. Lombardic A over bell [both sides] (Lockett II, 1574 this coin; AHH Virtual -, cf. 103 same obverse die albeit overpunched with escallop; Brown & Comber D14 this coin listed [Sale I, lot 30 same dies]; cf. Schneider I, 794; North 2006; S.2532), small collectors mark below lance, otherwise uniformly struck up on a full round flan, a pleasing very fine or better in parts with much underlying lustre, a surprisingly under-appreciated Elizabethan rarity with only three other specimens traced in modern commerce; entirely unrepresented in the specialist Hird collection, and with an excellent pedigree
