George III (1760-1820), 'Northumberland' Shilling, 1763, first laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, rev. crowned shields cruciform, eight strings to harp, edge obliquely grained, 5.98g, 6h (Pywell-Phillips 416; ESC 2124 [1214]; S.3742), light haymarking to nose with some brushmarks to face and a hairline scratch to reverse, otherwise the recesses pleasingly lustrous, about extremely fine, an iconic scarcity in the Shilling series
