Stephen of Blois (1135-1154), 'Watford' Type, Penny, 1136-1145, Southwark [?], "Aleme" (Alain), + STIEFNE R, crowned and draped bust right, lys-tipped sceptre before, rev. + ALERNE : ON : S[VÐE], voided octofoil with inward fleurs, 1.25g [19.29grns], 3h (North 873; BMC I, 114; S.1278), struck a trace off-centre to reverse and soft in parts, otherwise richly cabinet toned, strictly fine, but apparently UNIQUE with no comparable for this moneyer/mint and class in SCBI/EMC
