DNS : hIB .' ., double saltire stops, dies refurbished with re-punched legends, King enthroned, holding sword and sceptre, throne with fretted back, rev. (m.m.) : IhESUS : AVTEM : TRANSIENS : PER : MEDIVM : ILLORVM : IBAT ., Royal shield set on Tudor Rose inside ornate floral tressure, alternating leopards and lys in inner spandrels, plain in outer spandrels, 15.398g [237.627grns], 2h, m.m. lys 3 [over sunburst] / arrow (Schneider I, 570; Whitton dies O1e/R8; North 1782; S.2267), a small graffito mark in left field, otherwise a lovely full round specimen with usual die softness to portrait, richly honey-golden cabinet toned, a most wholesome very fine, and equally rare with only fourteen examples traced; this with a striking 19th Century pedigree, in NGC Black 'Carrington' holder, graded Almost Uncirculated (Cert. #8534361-005)
