(x) James II (1685-1688), Five-Guineas, 1688 QVARTO, first laureate bust left, rev. crowned shields cruciform, emblem-adorned sceptres in angles, eleven strings to harp, raised letters | •+• DECVS • ET • TVTAMEN • | • ANNO • REGNI • QVARTO •+• downwards on edge, 41.426g [639.30grns], 7h (MCE 119; EGC I, 316; Stratos - [cf. 189]; S.3397), small rim bruise at 10 o'clock, the hair craftily and convincingly re-worked in antiquity, otherwise struck details fine to very fine
