PAX • QVÆRITVR • BELLO, crowned shield of the Protectorate, • HAS • NISI • PERITVRVS • MIHI • ADIMAT • NEMO • downwards on edge, 30.117g [464.78grns], 7h (L&S 1; ESC 10; Lessen E12; Bull 240; S.3226), lightly wiped with a small metal flaw to rim at 11 o'clock, otherwise cabinet toned and lustrous fields, a most pleasing balanced example of this famous Protectorate issue, almost extremely fine, an evidently early striking with scant evidence of the fabled die flaw, in NGC holder, graded AU Details (Cert. #8220537-001)
