Harold II Godwinesson (5 January - 14 October 1066), 'PAX' Type with Sceptre, Penny, 1066, London, Aldgar, + HAROLD REX ANG, crowned head left, beard of two rows of small pellets, in front a sceptre tipped with a quatrefoil of pellets and a further pellet at bottom and middle of sceptre shaft, rev. + ALDGAR ON LVNDI, commencing at 1 o'clock, across field and between two pelleted lines, PAX, within beaded inner circle, 1.28g [19.75grns], 12h (Braintree Hoard 62 this coin, struck from the same dies as 63; Pagan, NM p.192 [seven examples noted]; SCBI 2 [Glasgow], 1198; SCBI 68 [Lyon], 1035; North 836; BMC I; S.1186), slightly bowed flan, otherwise toned with hoard patina, about very fine
