Edward the Confessor (1042-1066), 'Expanding Cross' Type, Penny, 1050-1053, Bath, Godric, +EDD: PD RNX, diademed bust left, trefoil tipped sceptre before, three vertical folds and four vertical pellets on either side of drapery, dividing legend, rev. +GODRIC ON BAÐA, short voided cross with expanding limbs and pellet centre within twin annulet, pellet in one angle, all within linear circle, 1.10g [16.98grns], 6h (SCBI 24 [West Country], 683; Freeman 25; BMC type V; North 823; S.1176), the lettering style on the obverse somewhat blundered, otherwise toned, rare with extra pellet, very fine
