NGC UNC | East Anglia, Æthelstan I (c.825-845) Penny, 'Non-Portrait' Type, Ipswich[?], Torhthelm, + EDELSTA • N • I, around Alpha, flanked by two pellets all contained within linear circle, rev. + TORHTHELM, with stylised M, around cross pattée, with wedges in angles within linear circle, 1.38g [21.30grns], 12h (cf. SCBI 67 [BM], 850, 859, 872; cf. EMC 1982.0004, 2018.0089, 2021.0335 this coin, 2025.0025; Naismith E40.2 variant with inner circle on obverse; North 441; S.950), fully centred bold strike on good metal, lightly toned, about extremely fine for issue, a new variant, excessively rare thus, in NGC holder, graded Uncirculated (Cert. #8222346-001)
