Ernest Richard Charles Bignell was born in 1888 at Gloucester. He enlisted at Newport and lived at Cwmtillery. Serving in 'Z' Company, he served in France from 2 June 1915 and died of pneumonia on 17 October 1918, being buried in the Lembet Road Cemetery, Salonika.
