(x) Bermuda Government, Bermuda, £1, Hamilton, 30th September 1927, serial number B/1 269783,
this 1927 £1 is part of the 1920-1936 King George V Issues., and share the series' design motifs. All four notes in this series have a strong maritime theme through their designs, featuring either a sailing ship on the obverse (Picks 2 and 3, BNB 102 and 103) or a significant harbour on the reverse (Picks 4 and 5, BNB 104 and 105). This £1 note features the harbour in Hamilton, a bustling centre of trade and Bermuda's capital city. This reflects Bermuda's reliance on the sea for survival and its growing global presence as both a strategic point of commerce in the Atlantic and as a tourist destination.
Another prominent design element is the Easter lily flowers. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Bermuda became a major exporter of Easter Lily bulbs. The Easter Lily was so closely associated with Bermuda that it was often referred to as the "Bermuda Lily." While this export eventually declined due to overseas competition, the flower remains an enduring symbol of the island's identity and cultural heritage,
