Bank of England Cheque, £37 18/2, London, 26th June 1872, serial number K/J 39435, a cheque for 37 Pounds, 18 Shillings, and 2 Pence. The denomination and stamp of the London Joint Stock Bank are on the obverse. The reverse displays the names, addresses, and payment due dates of each recipient of the cheque.

Before issuing banknotes, the Bank of England enabled depositors to access their account by using cheques. This Lot is an excellent example of banking history and old English currency before the widespread use of banknotes. A unique opportunity to own a piece of English heritage
