(x) Finlands Bank, 1000 Markkaa, ND (1918), serial number 251628, this beautifully designed Finnish 1000 Markka banknote in brown and tan features Finnish and Swedish text, symbolising the bilingual heritage of Finland. Two allegorical male figures are illustrated on the obverse dressed in traditional loincloths, one wielding an axe and the other holding a sledgehammer. The axe is particularly symbolic for Finland, as it is an essential tool used in forestry. Forests have played a central role in Finnish life for centuries, providing resources, shelter, and economic means. Therefore, the axe depicted on a banknote represents Finland’s heritage, as well as the hard work and labour that built the nation's prosperity. On the reverse, there is a scene of pine tree branches framing a lake that reflects a distant island, accompanied by the Finnish coat of arms
