Charles II (1660-1685), Crowns (3), 1662, 'Rose' type (A/1), CAROLVS • II • DEI • GRA •, first laureate and draped bust right, rose below, rev. stop after HIB, crowned shields cruciform, ten strings to harp, DECVS ET TVTAMEN widely spaced upwards on edge, 29.45g, 7h (Pywell-Phillips 6; ESC 15A; Bull 240; S.3350); also, 1663 (I/2), similar but no rose, initials JR (extra curl) below curls, no stops to reverse, upwards lettered edge, 29.69g, 6h (cf. Pywell-Phillips 7; ESC 27A [R3]; Bull 359; S.3354), rated extremely rare by Bull; lastly, 1671 (N/2ns), similar but second laureate and draped bust right, R over B in FRA, downwards lettered edge, 30.18g, 5h (cf. Pywell-Phillips 11-15; ESC -; Bull 385; S.3357), the first cleaned and reworked on hair, with softness to all, generally struck fine (3)
