Edward the Confessor (1042-1066), 'Hammer Cross' Type, Penny, 1059-1062, Steyning, Deorman, + EADPAR• RD RE, crowned and draped bust right, trefoil tipped sceptre before, rev. + DIORMAN ON STÆNIG, short cross voided with each limb terminating in an incurved segment of a circle, 1.26g [19.44grns], 6h (SCBI 1 [Fitzwilliam], 929; HHK 35; Freeman 8; North 828; S.1182), remnants of green wax and some doubling to obverse legend, nonetheless with a pleasing cabinet tone and a handsome portrait, pleasing very fine
