A 1930s Display Card for the Henry III Voided Longcross Coinage, stating: "These superceded a short-cross series in 1247-48 and were in circulation until 1279-80 when Edw 1st issued Pennies inscribed EDW R (1st issue 4/8/1279), with the further note: "Specimens of the currency during the first seven years of Edward 1st reign.", including Nine (9) Voided Longcross Pennies of Henry III, divided by moneyer and mint, including: 1) London, Davi, Class V, crowned bust facing, legend begins at 10 o'clock rev. DAVI ON LVNDEN, voided long cross, trio of pellets in angles; others, 2-3), London, Henri, Class 3, similar, although legend commences at 12 o'clock, rev. HENRI ON LVNDEN; the other, Class V, legend as first; and, 4) London, Ricard, Class Vb2, RICARD ON LVND, 1.53g, 6h; 5) London, Nicole de Sancti Albani, Class 3ab, rev. NICOLE ON LVND; another, 6) Class 2, reading hENRICVS REX TERCI, rev. NICOLE ON LVND, with the following author's note, Seaby's Cat. July 4, 1930 shows S2222, Cl. 2, m.m. star; another, 7) Canterbury, Gilbert, Class 3 [?], as before, GILBERT ON CAN, with author's note: Found March 9, 1893 in R[iver]. Thames n[ear] Mill-bank (Bought same day); and, 8) Northampton, Lucas, Class 3bc, LUCAS ON NORHA; lastly, 9), Shrewsbury, Loren, Class 3bc, LOREN ON SROS, all richly toned and beautifully line engraved with occasional brass-rubbings; subsequently attached by cotton string to mounting card with many additional author's notes; a wonderful piece of numismatic history with a 19th Century documented find otherwise unrecorded in official annals (9)
