Coronation of Edward VII, AR Medal, 1902, by F. Bowcher for Spink & Son, EDWARD • VIII ALEXANDRA, crowned and draped busts right, rev. GOD SAVE THE KING, Britannia holding crown aloft, the children of the nation gather below, Westminster Abbey behind, CROWNED JUNE 26TH 1902 in exergue in two lines, plain edge, 40mm, 26.25g (BHM 3741), wiped and some minor marking, nevertheless toned to the edges of the devices, near extremely fine; another, AR Medal, 1902, by F. Bowcher for Spink & Son, as before, 46mm, 54.10g, wiped, matte surfaces, toned, good fine (2)

A contemporary advertisement of Spink & Son notes that Frank Bowcher was granted a special sitting for the portrait of this piece. Pieces were struck in a variety of sizes, ranging from 76mm, 70mm, 46mm, 40mm and 23mm with brooch or ribbon suspenders. This piece also exists with the correct date AUG: 9, these specimens exhibiting signs of having been altered from JUNE 26TH, this part if the inscription being rather more deeply cut than the rest.
