Charles A. Freeborn was born at Kelvedon, Essex, the son of Mark Freeborn, of Church St., Kelvedon, Essex. He enlisted at Chelmsford and entered the war in France on 7 December 1915. Freeborn served in France for some time before being killed in action on 4 October 1918, just a month before the end of the war. He is buried in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gouy.
