William Evans was born in Mile End, Middlesex circa 1891 and lived at Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk. He enlisted at Stratford, Essex and disembarked for duty in the Balkan Theatre on 23 May 1915 as a Private with the 1st Battalion, Border Regiment. He was killed in action while serving in the Dardanelles the very next month, at the age of twenty-four. Evans is commemorated on the Helles Memorial in Turkey; sold together with copied research.
