Royal Naval L.S. & G.C., V.R. (J. J. Swallow, Btm, H.M. Coastguard), officially impressed, lightly toned and polished, otherwise very fine

James John Swallow was born on 10 June 1867 at Kentish Town, Middlesex. He enlisted at Portsmouth on 22 December 1882. He reached the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class on 1 August 1894 and transferred to H.M. Coast Guard on 2 June 1895 and was awarded his L.S. & G.C. on 29 September 1900. He reached the rank of Chief Petty Officer within the Coast Guard and completed his service on 30 April 1919. He is further entitled to a British War Medal for his Great War service.
