Harold Arthur Robert Dunning born on 31 July 1915 was a bricklayer from Seaview, Durban when he enlisted in the R.N.V.R. on 1 July 1933. He served on HMS Shropshire from December 1940 until November 1941 before being seconded to the Royal Navy on 19 February 1942 and posted to the officer's training centre King Arthur. Completing his course Dunning was commissioned Lieutenant on 19 June 1942 and served in that rank until he was discharged at Durban on 21 September 1945; sold together with copied research and service papers.
