Albert Booth was born at Uttoxeter, Staffordshire and attested with the North Staffordshire Regiment on 28 September 1892. Psoted to Malta between 20 March 1894 - 6 October 1896 he then went to Egypt from 7 October 1895 - 11 October 1897.
Serving in the East Indies between 12 October 1897 - 2 October 1902 he was posted to South Africa from 3 February 1902 -12 September 1902. Finally returning Home on 13 September 1900 until he completed his service on 27 September 1904.
He was anything but the model soldier and was tried by District Court Martial on three separate occasions, for being asleep on sentry duty, insubordination to an officer and for breaking out of barracks. Each time receiving 28 days punishment. He was further sentenced by the Civil powers for drunken behaviour and even reached the local newspaper when he assaulted a Henry Shephers for no reason.
