George White enlisted with the 41st Brigade at Reading on 25 March 1880 and posted to the 49th Foot in August of that year. He was present with that unit when they were amalgamated with the 66th Foot to become the Berkshire Regiment. White served in Egypt attached to the 7th Dragoon Guards and the 19th Hussars between 5 December 1882 and 21 March 1883. He was discharged by purchase on 29 May 1884; sold together with copied medal rolls and pay allowance listing.
