Thomas Drysdale Foggo was born at Spott, East Lothian on 25 July 1854, the son of Andrew and Agnes Foggo. Serving with the 14th Company, Army Service Corps during the Anglo-Boer War Foggo died of Dysentery at Chieveley, Natal, on 25 February 1900. His son, also named Thomas Drysdale, served with the Army Service Corps during the Great War and was awarded the M.S.M. for his actions.
