Khedive's Star 1882 (1 Bks 2203 J. E.), light contact wear, very fine

John J. Eastman enlisted with the 49th Foot at Newbury on 11 September 1880 he was still with them when the Regiment was amalgamated with the 66th Foot to form the Berkshire Regiment. Joining them in Egypt prior to the Suakin Expedition he was transferred to the 2nd Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment on 28 January 1885. This prevented him from seeing action at Tofrek but did give him service on the Nile Expedition (Medal and bar). Serving at the Suakin Reserve Depot in May 1885 Eastman returned to England on 24 August 1886; sold together with copied census data and handwritten research.
