(x) A superb Egypt and Sudan medal awarded to Lieutenant-Colonel A. M. B. Jones, 20th Hussars, who served as commander of General Grenfell's bodyguard at Ginnis, later seeing Anglo-Boer War service and receiving a 'mention' in 1902

Arthur Morgan Bulkeley Jones was born on 26 December 1861. He was commissioned Lieutenant in the 20th Hussars (from the Militia) on 31 October 1883. Present at the engagement at Ginnis in command of the escort to the General Officer Commanding. Notably the last engagement where British troops wore the eponymous red coat into battle.

Promoted to Captain in December 1889, Major in September 1899 he entered the war in South Africa aboard the transport St Andrew on 13 December 1901 with 'A' and 'B' squadrons of the 20th Hussars. He was awarded the Queen's South Africa Medal with four clasps and mentioned in despatches on London Gazette 29 July 1902. Promoted Lieutenant-Colonel in September 1907 he was placed on Half Pay on 9 September 1907. A notable cricketer Jones played for the Gentlemen of Norfolk, he died on 20 March 1946 at Mortlake, Surrey; sold together with copied research including Army Lists, London Gazette extract and an entry from Cricket Archive.
