(x) Military General Service 1793-1814, 11 clasps, Talavera, Busaco, Albuhera, Ciudad Rodrigo, Badajoz, Salamanca, Vittoria, Pyrenees, St. Sebastian, Orthes, Toulouse (William Meyer, Gunner, Arty. K.G.L.), on its original silk riband, two very minor edge knocks, otherwise good very fine and a most attractive example

William Meyer is confirmed upon the Roll with entitlement to this number and combination of clasps, one of only eight members of the King's German Legion Artillery to do so. It is almost certain he was a member of either Captain Andreas Cleeve's or Captain Wilhelm Braun's batteries, as these were the only two units of K.G.L. artillery to serve at the infamously bloody Battle of Albuera (16 May 1811); Cleeve's battery was overrun during the same French cavalry charge which decimated Colbourne's brigade of infantry (with many of the officers and men either killed or wounded), and Braun's battery assisted in the defence of the village of Albuera itself.
