(x) Bank Melli, Iran, specimen 10,000 Rials, ND (1938) / AH1317, serial number 1/000000,
against a backdrop of political upheavals in 1920s Iran, Bank Melli emerged as a crucial player coinciding with the transformative ascension of Reza Shah Pahlavi in 1925. This era was marked by sweeping economic policies and modernisation efforts, and Bank Melli was a cornerstone in Iran's evolving financial landscape. Reza Shah's visionary reign from 1925 to 1941 aimed to propel Iran into the 20th century, featuring ambitious reforms in secularisation, education, and infrastructure.
During this period, there were some distinctive banknotes produced by Bank Melli; one of them being this specimen 10,000 Rials, ND (1938) / AH1317, serial number 1/000000.
Despite the possibility that some issued notes signed by Haijier and Khosravi could have been printed, this type was unissued and the existence of such issued notes is currently unconfirmed. This leaves the specimen form, such as the one we present to you here, as the only way to own this type
(Pick 38Cs, BNB 133), in PMG holder 66 EPQ Gem Uncirculated, only one note in higher grade on PMG census
