Group of 17-19th century historical banking documents, [7 items] memorandum dated 13th May 1676, six signatures including those by John Morris, John Symonds, James Frampton, Will Frampton, and Peter Clayton [paper in good condition but wear to edges]
Accounts sheet titled "in Riga Anno 1701", details a number of transactions from 1699 until 1701. Most entries concern the movement of goods and list transactions with various individuals including ship captains. Account sheet possibly belonged to Randolph Knipe, who is named in the document and was a London merchant and supplier of Baltic goods [paper is delicate with splits, tears, and holes, tape repair, but still clear and readable]
Letter from 1769 with request to have a banknote signed by His Royal Highness King George III, letter to Mr Godfry from J. Hedges requesting a banknote to be brought to him so that he may have it signed by the King. [some damage to reverse, discolouration, stains, but overall clear and readable]
Certificate of money dated 20th December 1788 for £2,620 placed by Edward Morant, Accountant General into the Bank of England after a court case between John Thompson and Philip Townsend, the plaintiffs against Mary Tomas, widow, and others. Order accepted and receipted, signature for the Bank of England by G. Vincent, one of the Cashiers of the Bank. Money placed to the account of Thomas Walker, Accountant General of the Court of Chancery, and to the credit of the cause of Thompson against Thomas [paper in very good condition for its age, some wear to edges but text clear and readable]
Bank of England Cheque, £9 5/-, London, 3rd October 1799, serial number 9105 L, pay to Mr. Hart for Stamp Duties, coloured marble device on the reverse, also with various endorsements [in very good condition considering its age, hole to centre left and hole punch, ink stains and smudges]
Early 19th century banking accounts sheet for the Honourable William Gordon, beginning 1814 and showing banking details through 1816. On the same document is a cheque drawn for £154 10s 5d, dated 14th August 1816 [very good condition for its age, readable with relatively little ageing and discolouration]
