(x) Bank Melli, Iran, [Top Pop] Specimen uncut pair 50 Rials, ND (1934 / AH1313), serial number 00000,
the front of this pair exhibits an olive-green colour with red, blue and green hues within the designs. On the left of the front of each banknote is a portrait of Reza Shah, founder of the Pahlavi dynasty, depicted wearing a Pahlavi hat. Next to this portrait is an image of the Chehel Sotoun (Forty Columns) Palace, reflecting in the pool in Isfahan. This palace, when reflecting the 20 columns onto the water, is said to appear as 40 columns. The Chehel Sotoun Palace serves many purposes on Iranian banknotes. More specifically this image reflects Iran's pride in its historical legacy and desire to promote and preserve cultural identity. On the front a specimen stamp appears twice on each note and also has been signed by Abdolhossein Hajier and Reza Gholi Amir Khosravi. The back of this superb pair presents an olive-green design, whilst once again featuring Farsi text. The denomination of 50 Rials is shown on all four corners of each banknote within the guilloches design and the coat of arms with the crown, sun, lion and sword observed in the centre.
