Essay 1870's 10c., five color essays in black, blue, brown, blue-green and red, displaying a young General Porfirio Díaz in his early 40's, finely engraved and imperforate on India paper, affixed on card, in magnificent condition. This exceedingly scarce set is supposedly being offered at auction here for the first time after several decades.

Note: Although General Díaz ruled for 30 years, his likeness never appeared on any postage issue, so it is possible these designs date from when he took office in 1877 to the period when he noticeably looked older, in the 1900s.
